According to BeSoccer's official newsletter and Liverpool's official Twitter account, Liverpool made the transfer of Fabio Carvalho official last Sunday.
Liverpool paid Fulham £5 million plus add-ons for Carvalho's transfer. The 19-year-old moved to Anfield on July 1 on a five-year contract.
The Portuguese joins Anfield from Fulham, a team who he was promoted to the Premier League with and also won the Championship with. His contribution was key, with 11 goals and seven assists in the 38 games.
Carvalho usually plays behind the striker, although he also plays on the right flank fairly regularly. Curiously, he prefers to drift to the left hand side of the pitch when he starts in the middle. This versatility fits Jürgen Klopp's offensive scheme perfectly.
Carvalho was born in Torres Vedras, in the Lisbon District of Portugal. He played in Benfica's academy before moving with his family to London in England in 2013. He played for Balham before being signed by Fulham in 2015.
In May 2020, Carvalho signed his first professional contract with Fulham, for two years. On 23 September, Carvalho made his first-team debut as a substitute in a 2–0 EFL Cup victory over Sheffield Wednesday.
Carvalho also has experience playing international football, although not at senior level. He played for England at U15, U16, U17, U18 and U19 level, but he said "yes" to Portugal last year and made his debut with the U21 team. With Portugal, he has scored two goals in three games.
